Hi, I'm Ellen!
I’ve loved playing with color and all things creative for as long as I can remember. When other kids were playing sports, I was drawing and begging my parents for art lessons!
I graduated from Syracuse University with a BFA in Illustration and headed to New York City where I found a job in the publishing industry and learned what it takes to produce a weekly printed publication.
I married my college sweetheart and transitioned into the advertising and marketing industries working at various agencies in Chicago and San Francisco. I worked as a designer and art director on interactive campaigns for many brands. In Chicago I was the art director for the first website for Experian and The Alzheimer’s Association.
In San Francisco I was an interactive art director at Publicis and worked on many large brands including HP, Lancome and Whirlpool.

CLIENT WORK:
After our two children were born I began freelancing from our home in Columbus, Ohio and then in Phoenix, Arizona. I explored many creative endeavors from illustration and stationery design, custom watercolor house portraits, calligraphy for weddings, painting nursery murals and teaching art classes to children.
I officially founded Ellen Morse Originals upon returning to my hometown of Buffalo, NY in 2011. My many years of project management as well as clean, compelling graphic design ensures a seamless end-product for my clients. I have collaborated with many diverse businesses and non-profits to create websites and marketing materials that attract attention and drive results.
In 2020 I added illustration, surface pattern design and hand lettering to my business offerings. Now I marry my graphic design skills, illustration, patterns and hand lettering to help build custom brand identities for small businesses and non-profits.
I also license my art for stationery, giftwrap, scrapbook pages, greeting cards, housewares, apparel and fabric.
My work is colorful and bold, inspired by nature and the many places I've lived. Most days you can find me in my home studio working beside our two rescue dogs.
